Television and Media
"With over eight seasons of experience hosting and producing Leaders on Leadership for Detroit Public Television, Larry Fobes holds the equivalent of a doctorate in the art of leadership. That's right, the art of leadership, because there are no black and white answers when you're at the top of your company, institution or group. Larry has an innate understanding of the world his guests live in daily. He knows both the practical side of their world having worked in industry with some of the top leaders in the country for over thirty years, and the theoretical side with over a decade's worth of experience at the Wayne State University School of Business Administration.
When leaders would arrive for the program tapings, he immediately put them at ease. His interviews were conversations that flowed with great interest and ease. Often the time would go by so fast that the guests would stay longer than we asked in order to continue the conversation and to talk with the studio audience members. He is the personification of leadership: intelligence, class, grace under pressure, with a little fun thrown in. The pleasure has been all mine working with Larry and I look forward to working with him again in the future."

"I did enjoy our interview. You do an excellent job of going beyond the standard questions - felt you were one of those rare interviewers who got at the 'why' rather than 'what and when'."

When Interviewed on "Leaders on
Leadership" television series
"For the past hour I have been listening to you being interviewed on the Blogtalkradio.com webcast 'On The Dean's List'. I really like what you had to say and how you communicated. You have a great, natural style. You also have wonderful knowledge and experience on leadership to share from your own career and after interviewing all the CEOs in your television series. I really hope you have many more opportunities that take advantage of your engaging conversational delivery and your insightful leadership expertise. Together, they help us learn 'real world' leadership from your television CEO guests."

"Larry Fobes and the Leaders on Leadership initiative provide a meaningful insight into what great leaders look like during times of unique adversity and challenge. Larry's intellectual curiosity and engaging interaction with his guests serve to uncover highly personal and relevant glimpses into the personal steps taken by these leaders to deal with and to overcome a variety of impediments to accomplishing the goal at-hand. Greenleaf Trust has been a proud underwriter of Leaders on Leadership for several years. We are pleased to help showcase qualities of leadership which can be a model for others at a time when personal creativity, integrity, and individual perseverance are in danger of becoming rare commodities."

"The most difficult task in leadership development is translating theory into effective practice. Leaders on Leadership closes this gap in a very informal and effective way. Viewers can see CEOs leading, using effective influence techniques and providing their unique view of the world. This is leadership on the move, in real life situations with real people.
Are CEOs really so different? Watch the show and see apparently ordinary individuals demonstrate why they are leaders. Only a few are the articulate, charismatic leaders of our popular fiction. Most are much more subtle in the way they frame issues, discuss alternatives and motivate others to act. The shows are a video lesson in real effective leadership by real people."

"I have worked with Larry Fobes, host and co-producer of the Leaders on Leadership show over the past few years. Since 2012, Larry and I have collaborated to bring major union leaders to his Emmy-award winning show. He has hosted James Hoffa, president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters; Richard Trumka, president of the AFL-CIO; and Mary Kay Henry, president of the Service Employees International Union. Larry brings a wealth of understanding of what leadership is all about to his guests and audience and does a superb job as a host and interviewer."
